Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Facebook is a great way of generating traffic to your YouTube videos. The more people you have “liking” your page, the more will likely see your video when you post it. Indeed, Facebook holds great viral potential as some page users will choose to share your video on their profiles with their friends.

Here is a great way to suggest all your friends to your page or a friend’s page in one click… well its actually three clicks to be exact but it usually would be hundreds.

First go the page and click on “Suggest to Friends”:

Simply copy and paste this code into the address bar when you have the friend selector window open:

Now click on “Send invitations”.

Done.

Government in your YouTube

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Google like many other communications companies, regularly receive requests from government agencies around the world to remove content, very often video content.

Unlike most other companies, Google seems to be more serious about protecting their users against ever intrusive government measures so they created a tool, or rather a custom Google Mapplet where they tag each country and the number of take down requests received from its government agencies as well as the percent of those requests Google has complied with.

Behold.

Its interesting that China is not included. Is this due to Google moving its Chinese operations over to Hong Kong?

What’s even more interesting is the complience rate as noted by user/JoeFelice on reddit.com. Its important to note that Google has to comply with the law of each country it operates in, so Canada’s ratings may have more to do with loose legislation than actual intent to censor content on the internet.
